Los Olivos Politics

Tasting-room village wrestling with septic, water, and its own future.

Los Olivos is a tiny, picturesque tasting-room village in the Santa Ynez Valley with outsized charm and a complicated infrastructure story — most notably a long-running fight over wastewater and a community services district to manage septic-to-sewer questions.

As an unincorporated community, its decisions flow through the county and local districts, but its identity fight over commercialization versus character is intensely local.

Governance

Unincorporated — county Third District Supervisor plus the Los Olivos Community Services District and water districts.

Elections

Community Services District board elections plus countywide Third District Supervisor representation.
