Wine country, ranch land, water fights, and the Chumash reservation.

Santa Ynez is an unincorporated community at the heart of the valley, surrounded by vineyards, ranches, and the Santa Ynez Band of Chumash Indians reservation. With no city council of its own, its politics run through the county Board of Supervisors and valley special districts.

Water, land use, tribal sovereignty and development, and agriculture define the local agenda.
